Congratulations on making it through the first section of study where we introduced the Nine Planets. Today, I want to share some fun ways to put this knowledge into action. When I first started studying, my teacher often talked about going to the mall and observing people to identify which planets he could see in their actions and appearance. This can be a creative and interactive game that integrates your Jyotish knowledge into daily life.

This practice will help you recognize the influence of planets on the actions of people you meet. For example, when someone is unchanging and stubborn we can re-frame how we interact with them by recognizing the influence of Saturn. Here are some tips on identifying the planets in your daily life. I hope you enjoy this game and find it insightful. I've also included simple ways to build your connection to the planetary energies in your day-to-day life.

The Sun – Ravi, Surya

ree
  • When you meet someone who exudes confidence and naturally takes charge, you're likely observing

the traits of the Sun. This person is ambitious and often finds themselves in

leadership roles. They carry an air of authority, but it's important for them to avoid becoming overly controlling.

  • If you notice someone who seems to be struggling with self-esteem, they might be experiencing a solar crisis, working on building a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence.

  • The Sun's persistence is mirrored in the steady rhythm of someone who has a strong presence, much like the Sun rising and setting each day. These individuals can sometimes be inflexible, but with conscious effort, they can learn to be more adaptable by adopting a healthy routine.

  • The Sun also connects to our physical health and vitality. Someone who is glowing with a bright, open smile likely has a strong Sun in their chart. If you see someone dealing with health issues, it might be a sign that their Sun is interacting with another planet in a challenging way.

  • Connect to the Sun by wearing maroon clothing on Sunday as the Sun rules Sunday.

The Moon – Chandra

ree
  • When you meet someone who seems deeply thoughtful and imaginative, you're likely observing the traits of the Moon. This person might be lost in their own world of thoughts and emotions, expressing their moods and dreams through their demeanor.

  • The Moon also represents our connection to others. If you notice someone who exudes a nurturing and caring presence, they might embody the perfect mother figure, often found in helping professions like nursing or social work.

  • Chandra signifies our intuition. If you see someone who appears to be guided by a hunch or feeling in a situation, it's the Moon providing them with additional information.

  • You can often identify a Moon person by their round, full face and youthful appearance. They tend to have light eyes and radiant skin. These individuals prefer soft, comfortable clothing and appreciate items made from natural fibers that are durable.

  • Connect to the Moon by  wearing clean white comfortable clothing on Monday as the Moon rules Monday.

Mars – Kuja

ree
  • When you meet someone who seems to act impulsively and confront situations head-on, you're likely observing the traits of Mars. This person might be quick to engage in unplanned confrontations, driven by their determination and passion.

  • Mars' strong presence can be seen in someone who is strategic in their actions, carefully choosing steps that support their desired outcomes.

  • You might notice this person has an athletic build, often with a V-shaped torso, and a reddish hue to their complexion or red highlights in their hair.

  • These individuals can easily burn out when success does not come quickly, but their courage and determination keep them going.

  • Connect to Mars by wear bright Red on Tuesdays as Mars rules Tuesday.

Mercury – Buddha

ree
  • When you meet someone who seems to be quick-witted and adaptable, you're likely observing the traits of Mercury. This person might cover their anxiety with humor and sometimes display a bit of duplicity. Their curiosity and adaptability allow their intellect to flourish, making them keen observers and masterful communicators.

  • You might notice someone who is meticulously organized and has a sharp grasp of details in any endeavor. These individuals often have a youthful appearance and are life-long learners, constantly seeking new knowledge and experiences.

  • Teenagers, with their quick minds and ever-changing interests, are manifestations of Mercury. Adults who are witty, organized, and continuously learning will likely have a strong Mercury influence in their chart.

  • Connect to Mercury by wearing Green on Wednesday as Mercury rules Wednesday.

Jupiter – Guru, Brihaspati

ree
  • When you meet someone who exudes optimism and generosity, you're likely observing the traits of Jupiter. This person might have a larger body and a pleasant disposition, often engaging with others in a friendly and expansive manner.

  • Jupiter compels individuals to expand their knowledge and seek wisdom beyond mere facts. You might notice someone who is deeply engrossed in a book or having a thoughtful conversation, always looking for deeper meaning in life.

  • These individuals are grounded by a strong ethical code, which supports ethical behavior in society. They often embody the eternal truths of spirituality, leading by example and inspiring others to do the same.

  • Connect to Jupiter by wearing yellow on Thursdays as Jupiter rules Thursdays.

Venus – Shukra

ree
  • When you meet someone who exudes harmony and beauty, you're likely observing the traits of Venus. This person might be surrounded by an aura of artistry, whether in their fashion choices or the way they carry themselves.

  • They seem to attract prosperity and enjoy the finer things in life, promoting a sense of sensuality and luxury.

  • However, if Venus is imbalanced, this person might appear to indulge excessively, always seeking more and struggling to find peace and satisfaction.

  • You might notice someone with a symmetrical, well-proportioned face and body, who has a natural ability to persuade others.

  • They could be involved in fine arts, fashion, or even in the media spotlight, using their charm and diplomacy to navigate social situations effortlessly.

  • Connect to the Venus by wearing white clothes or new clothes on Friday, as Venus rules Friday “Date Night”.

Saturn - Shani

ree
  • When you meet someone who moves and speaks slowly, you're likely observing the traits of Saturn. This person might have a deliberate nature, taking their time to think and act.

  • They often appear thin with prominent bones, reflecting a hardworking lifestyle.

  • Under Saturn's influence, these individuals have learned to work hard, develop patience, and persevere through challenges.

  • If Saturn is well placed in their charts, they might seem mature and at peace, having gained wisdom from their experiences.

  • You might also notice that they represent the day-to-day working class, the people who keep society running smoothly but are often not recognized for their efforts. They embody the essence of Saturn, showing resilience and dedication in their everyday tasks.

  • Connect to Saturn by wearing dark blue on Saturdays. Many times, when people wear dark colors for Saturn, they will wear a touch of red (Mars) to add some active energy to the slowness of Saturn.

Rahu

ree
  • When you meet someone who seems driven by ambition and material desires, you're likely observing the traits of Rahu. This person might appear obsessed with their goals, channeling their ambition into innovative pursuits. However, this intense focus can sometimes lead to feelings of depression and desperation.

  • You might notice someone who is constantly seeking new gadgets, overwhelmed by an insatiable desire for material goods. This person may seem confused, struggling to satisfy their endless needs.

  • Rahu can be seen in someone who explores unconventional lifestyles, sometimes reaching great heights or falling into deep lows. They might be engrossed in social media, absorbing random thoughts and images without context. These individuals are energetic and inconstant, often influenced by the opinions of others and lacking a strong sense of self.

  • Connect to Rahu by setting aside time for quiet reflection. Read philosophy and spiritual teachings. Daily meditation and mantra practice will harness the energy of Rahu and will help you to manifest positive advancement in the world.

Ketu

ree
  • When you meet someone who seems detached and introspective, you're likely observing the traits of Ketu. This person might appear to be lost in thought, reflecting on past experiences and lessons.

  • They often have a sense of mysticism about

them, which can lead to ideas of spirituality and the path toward liberation (Moksha).

  • Ketu's influence can be seen in someone who prefers to live outside society, seeking out remote and isolated places.

  • You might notice a person who lives a life of simplicity, perhaps a reclusive neighbor or someone who enjoys solitude. These individuals often keep to themselves, embodying the essence of Ketu's introspective and detached nature.

  • Connect to Ketu by looking for ways to serve those who need help in your community. Ketu’s energy causes us to let go of ideas and patterns that no longer serve us. This can be a difficult and painful process but making small steps forward in the company of others will ease our transition.
